Inbound

Every pallet. Right location. Every time.

Putaway software for Acumatica warehouses.

Four location strategies evaluated in order, allergen stacking enforced, live capacity checked — and the task dispatches itself the moment receiving closes.

The problem

A pallet comes off the truck and stops.

It sits in the cross-aisle until someone with fifteen years in the building decides where it goes, and if that person is at lunch it sits until after lunch.

Three weeks later the product is stranded in a bulk location nobody thinks to look in, the count says you have it, and the picker says you don't.

4 Location strategies, evaluated in sequence
0 Manual manager handoffs between dock and rack

Illustrative only. A fast-moving product routes to its ABC zone; a nut product is refused a location above a dairy product and routed to bulk instead; flagged stock goes straight to quarantine; and the one move that crosses a zone boundary posts to Acumatica as a Transfer Order. Document numbers are examples, not a customer's.

What it does

Where every pallet goes, and why.

The location engine

Four strategies, in order

Fixed home, then ABC velocity zone, then preferred zone, then next available. Per product, every time.

ABC velocity zoning

Fast movers routed to high-access zones, slow movers to deep storage. The pick face stays optimised without anyone deciding.

Capacity checked live

WMSi reads the real balance at the suggested location before dispatching — never a cached field hours out of date.

Loose stock has its own path

Non-palletised product runs a cart session, routing to pick face first, bulk as fallback.

The rules that stop the expensive mistake

Directional allergen rules

Nuts above dairy is blocked, because dust falls downward. Each directional pair configured independently.

Quarantine routed on arrival

Flagged product goes to quarantine at receipt, before a task exists. It never touches a pickable bin.

FIFO advisory warnings

The scanner warns before the worker confirms a putaway that breaks FIFO. Warn, strict block, or off.

Overrides allowed and recorded

A worker can pick a different location. What was suggested, where it went, and who changed it are all kept.

In Acumatica

What posts, and when.

Putaway begins the instant a receiving session closes in WMSi, so the handoff from dock to rack never waits on a manager or on an ERP posting.

Moves that cross a zone boundary post to Acumatica as Transfer Orders and are released automatically; moves inside a single zone update WMSi balances locally, without generating an Acumatica document for a pallet that never left the building's logical location.

Either way the reconciliation pass that runs every thirty minutes checks the two systems still agree.

How the reconciliation pass works.
